Hailsham railway station

This image captures the former Hailsham railway station in East Sussex, United Kingdom, before its closure. 

The station was part of the "Cuckoo Line" that ran between Polegate and Eridge. 

It originally opened in 1849 as a terminus and was later extended in 1880. 

The station was closed to passengers in 1968 as part of the Beeching cuts, a significant restructuring of the UK's railway system. 

The site of the former station is now occupied by a housing estate, with only nearby road and pub names hinting at its history.
