This image captures a moment at the original Uckfield railway station in East Sussex before its closure and relocation.

The train is a Class 33 diesel locomotive, also known as a "Crompton", which was a common sight on the Southern Region lines.

The original station was located on the line that ran between Lewes and Uckfield, opening in October 1858.

The station was eventually closed, and a new, modern Uckfield station was opened in a different location in March 2010.

The image shows a level crossing with X-shaped gates, a common feature of the era.
