This image captures Hailsham railway station in East Sussex before its closure.

The station was closed in September 1968 as part of the Beeching railway cuts.

Hailsham was a terminus from 1849 to 1880, and the line was later extended to Eridge, becoming the "Cuckoo Line".

The station site is now a housing estate, but clues like "Station Road" and a pub named the "Railway Tavern" remain.

The signal box seen in the image survived until 1964 when it was closed.
